place to start understanding this, would be start right at the beginning. No, I
do not mean the beginning of time. I mean your physical body beginning.
Even before your were born, certain aspects of your body, and mind were predetermined
to think, and operate in a specific way. This was so, simply due to your
genetic makeup, which has been passed to you by your parents. This has
essentially formed the body in which you reside, and greatly influences your
physical ability, your level of intelligence, and even generally speaking the
way you tend to look. How often has resemblance been noted between you and a
member of your family?...
There is however another aspect which is very heavily emphasized by most major
philosophies and religions, and that is that you are not your body, but a soul
/ spirit / being that inhabits the body vessel for a period of time.
Suggestions are that you inhabit your body, some time after conception, and
then continue to live in that body until your body dies.
Some philosophies will suggest that after your body dies, you will move on to a
utopia of sorts (if you were good), or hell (if not so good), whilst others
embrace the philosophy of reincarnation. Although these are topics which are
greatly debated and thought about, you will find that primarily there is a
common strand in most of these, which include specifically that the body is
only a temporary existence, whilst the soul remains eternal.
body is merely a temporary existence, based on a physical universe, which has
limitations and restrictions, guarded by this universe's scientific principles.
The body needs a soul inhabitant to energize it, and without the presence of
the soul, the body can not live, and becomes mere dust. This has recently been
confirmed by science, in that they have found that the soul in fact has a mass
that can be measured on a scale. When the soul leaves the body, the body weighs
The soul is also immortal, and has been around forever, and will be around for
ever. If you accept the fact that the soul will exist for all eternity after
death, why not simply also consider the possibility that the soul has in fact
existed for the same amount of time, prior to this incarnation (this life).
Deductive reasoning would suggest that this is not only possible, but in fact
With this in mind I would suggest that a rather interesting question is, what
were you doing before this incarnation?... Your soul is immortal after all?...
Not to dwell on this I would suggest that again deductive reasoning suggests
that both your physical genetic history, as well as the history of your soul,
will have an influence on your life now, and the way you live it from day to
day. And seemingly in ways over which you have little control, especially since
you generally do not know of it's existence and the true impact it could, and
probably has over your life.
