I could give you grandchildren, yet this won"t make you a granddad ~ I could give you a meditation session, yet this won"t make you a peaceful and calm person ~ I could give you a million dollars, yet this won’t make you a millionaire ~ I could give you abundance, yet this won"t make you grateful ~ I could give you beauty, yet this won"t make you loved ~ I could give you a parachute, yet this won"t make you sky-diver.|
Determine who you want to be in your life and then choose "a vehicle" that will inevitably mould you to becoming that person. Very often we want something not because we want “that thing”. We’ve seen people who have particular “things” and associate a certain way of “being” with those people who have those things. We then draw the obvious, yet illogical conclusion and declare, “I’ll have what she’s having”!
What’s forgotten in our equation is their journey preceding the “having”.
Once you have determined what you want (this can take some people a while!) then observe as many people as you can, who already possess that. What to take note of are their qualities, attributes, habits, how they think, how they respond and other behaviours. Which ones do you already exhibit and which ones have room for improvement or expansion? Then go to work.
Commit to your goal – decide to achieve it, no matter what - because it will require consistent and persistent focus over an extended period of time to accomplish your desired, intended outcome.
It is the jumping through hoops and over hurdles that will begin to challenge the “current you” and this in turn will persuade you to adjust patterns of thought and behaviour.
Once you start “becoming” more granddad-like then you’ll be amazed at how many children suddenly start “showing up” around you. Once you live consciously in a state of gratitude, you be in awe at the abundance surrounding you. Once you can generously give and receive love, you’ll experience lasting beauty.
We’re reading much about the Laws of Attraction - that ‘like attracts like’ and that you need to raise your vibrations to draw nearer the things that you want. For example, you’ll not attract your ideal relationship unless you are first clear about what you offer a partnership and know what a great relationship for you might ‘look like’ - or - you’ll not attract the ideal client until you are first clear about what you offer the market place and know whom you serve.
When you walk into Rosa’s kitchen and say, “I am hungry”, what is Rosa meant to do with that information? Hand you a biscuit, a toasted sandwich or cook you up a large bowl of spaghetti? If you choose to continue being unclear then you cannot scold Rosa for handing you a lemon meringue pie instead of chili con carne.
True, you can sometimes know you are hungry and not quite yet know what would be just the right thing to satisfy the hunger. Start listing some attributes of what may satisfy you – savoury/sweet, hot/cold, large/small or crunchy/smooth.
This in itself will get you a little clearer in knowing what you want and begins to give Rosa a sense of what to bring to you and you’re more clear about what you will say yes to and to what you’d say no. Continue to fine-tune the descriptors until you eventually have a very clearly defined request for the Universe (Rosa!).
Though remember, this is only an initial step to achieving a life by design rather than a life by accident.
Set up a session with a coach if you want support with this and if you’re ready to take it to the next level.
