is so easy to get distracted by images of what we anticipate total spiritual
enlightenment would mean for us. That master monk sitting somewhere in
meditation and levitation, all understanding and knowing. (Well, that has at
least been my image for a time) You know, that perfect state of enlightenment.
all have those at some point in our spiritual journey. And I might add that it
is always great to have an overall dream.
I have to admit that when all is said and done, and for most of us normal folk,
these images will always just remain dreams. Life tend to present us with
challenges which prevent us from being that being. Or we dream about it but
even if presented with an opportunity making that life possible, we reject it
for some reason or another.
that I am not saying do not pursue this. What I am saying however is this :
“Roads are made for journeys, not
we consider and attempt to put ourselves into the master vision of ourselves,
we have to remember that this is not something you are simply going to wake up
one morning, and be. And I assure you there is no tablet you could take, or
herb that you could smoke, that’s going to turn you into this instantly. It
will always remain a journey, even if accept a supposedly directed opportunity.
realize this. Even though it is usually great to share your journey with
likeminded travelers, the journey is yours, and yours alone.

If this sounds a little scary, don’t worry, it is just a matter of perspective.
And before you know it, you will be seeking and hunting for that next advance
in your spiritual life. And no doubt, every time you move a little forward,
you will be able to look back and say : “Now that was fun…”
of course highlights one very essential thing you need to remember :
“Every journey starts with the
as such, every step should be an objective in itself. I.e. Never loose sight
of your overall objective (though noting that this will likely change a few
times during your journey), however always focus on the next step.
Completing the next step is what will eventually get you there. Just trying
for the overall objective in most instances, will seem completely insurmountable
and if any thing this will just slow you down.
make those steps small ones. And do so on purpose. That way you can really
enjoy the journey. And believe it or not, making smaller steps, one step at a
time, will get you there quicker and you will actually get to see more.
