Unselfish Love, Kindness, Harmlessness.|
These Things You Can Believe In.
Spirituality can mean many different things for many different people, but there is one thing that all good people around the world, regardless of where they
come from, believe is true Spirituality - Unselfish Love. Also known by
Christians as the Golden Rule, it can be found within the tenets of just about
every major world religion. Like a smile, it is one of those things that
transcends cultural boundaries. The Golden Rule was stated most clearly as a
commandment by the being known as Jesus Christ:
"That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to
It cannot really get any more simple than that, right?? But for those who really
take the time to think about what it means to really apply this rule in their
every-day life, at work, at school, at home etc., and what it would mean if
everyone else in the world were living by that rule, it becomes obvious that
this is perhaps the most important and practical teaching that ever existed!
What else could possibly be of greater importance than Unselfish Love, and it"s
offspring "virtues", compassion, kindness and humility?
Unfortunately, people tend to wave the Golden Rule off saying ‘Oh.. I know about that.. kindergarten stuff” and just continue on their way going to ‘spiritual
seminars’, listening to spiritual teachers and going from one spiritual hype to
the other, while all the time caring only about themselves, and building their
selfish desires and ego.
Spiritual knowledge is frequently a distraction from the essence of what
spirituality really is all about. Especially if it is aimed at ways to reach
success, wealth and money. A lot of the modern-day spirituality is aimed at
GETTING richer, GETTING more wealth, GETTING
what YOU WANT. It is often a selfish abuse of the Law of Attraction. This is not
the true essence of spirituality and can never lead a person to true inner peace
and happiness because these two things are not based in any way on any form of
self-gain. It is the Self that loses everything, but the Spirit that (re)gains everything.
One can spend a whole lifetime in search of spiritual truths and only end up
with more knowledge but no Love to give.
In the end, it all comes back to Love, giving Love and being a vehicle for the
Will of God/The Universal Spirit/Your Inner Being.
From a song by Lauryn Hill: "Now I may have wisdom and knowledge on
Earth. But if I speak wrong then what is it worth?"
