It is truly saddening to look around and see the apparent struggle for this very elusive condition of freedom. Especially by those ignorant of their condition. And it should be no surprise to you, that even the enlightened ones find themselves in this condition of ignorance ever so often.

Though when all is considered, it seems somewhat strange that when a caged animal is released into the wild, this animal displays signs of instinctive fear and apprehension of what it might encounter in the big wild world out there. Even stranger that when invited outside, the animal will often remain inside the cage.

And not unlike the fearful animal, we very often find ourselves in this very similar position. We have an opportunity to escape our prisons, yet for some inexplicable reason continue to remain inside. Strange these prisons that we create for ourselves, which become our perceived safe spaces.

Yes, these prisons we create for ourselves…..

It seems as a species we have developed these very interesting psychological coping mechanisms, which allow us to hide from the world out there. We build emotional walls around ourselves. We fight every day to keep a sense of decorum. To maintain our sense of safety, even if only perceived….

And philosophically speaking it seems sad that even those that say they believe in nothing, “in the hope that something worthy might come along” end up creating walls of “nothing” around themselves. Walls which will keep them inside, and anything that might aid them in their lives outside.

Too bad that these walls prevent us for actually enjoying what we all crave so much. Too bad that the freedom is clearly just outside, within reach and touch, and yet most of us will never truly experience it’s delight, fearing what it might bring…

Realize this..

Every thought that we have. Every decision that we make on how we feel about something. Every choice that we make that forms our opinions. Every lie that we tell ourselves. These are the bricks in our own prison walls…

And escaping might require a brick(thought) by brick(opinion) deconstruction, or could be as simple as tasting a strange food. So go ahead taste it, experience the freedom. Start exploring outside the walls. Learn, listen, taste, experience…

Remember this..

You built the prison and only within absolute truth to yourself, can you truly escape it. And until you have escaped, just realize that you are the keeper and the warden. So make it easy on yourself… if you like…
