I think all humans search for their soul mate in their lives. We search for that one person who understands us on a soul level, who completes us. Sadly people have been misinformed about what or who a soul mate is.
The definition of a Soul mate according to Wikipedia is: A soul mate is somebody with whom one has a feeling of deep and natural affinity, love, intimacy, sexuality, spirituality and/ or compatibility.
What most people do not know is that a soul mate is not necessarily a lover but can be a child, a parent, a grandparent, a sibling or a friend of the same sex. It does not mean that we do not share a deep connection with them, but that we are not involved sexually with them.
Now this will come as a shock to most of you reading this, but this is the truth about Soul mates. I have read a number of books on the subject and have discussed it at length with my guide, always hoping for another answer, that our soul mate is indeed a lover and not our child or parent.
But the answer keeps coming back the same.
Think of the people that you know in your life. This can be your parents, grandparents, children or siblings. Do you share a deep emotional and spiritual connection with them? Could you not imagine your life without them? Do they challenge you constantly to be a better person and to do better in your life for yourself?
This person most likely is your soul mate.
So what does this mean for you? Are you going to spend the rest of your life alone because your soul mate is your child and not your partner? No, this is not the case. We will still meet someone that will complete our lives as a partner should, but your soul is not tied to theirs.
Soul mates come about in two ways, one is when a soul decides to split itself into two and come to earth to experience lessons on two different levels as well as completing itself when it joins the other half of itself on earth or on the Other Side.
The other type of a soul mate is a soul that you have incarnated with many, many times. You have shared a great number of lifetimes together and although you are not the same soul in two separate bodies you feel wholeness in your life when you are with this person.
This soul and yours are joined spiritually together, almost as if you have been married on the Other Side and chose to come here in different forms and circumstances.
When you meet your soul mate, if in your case it is to be a lover, you will feel an instant connection with them. You feel like you have known them forever and that you even know what they are thinking. It is an uncanny feeling of recognition that you cannot possibly place in this life time. But the feeling is still there. The certainty that you two have lots to share with each other.
You hear people say, βI just knew, from the moment I met her that she was the one for me.β Or βit feels like I have known him my whole life and yet we only just met.β
These people are most likely talking about meeting their soul mate.
Although I must caution that not every connection that we feel with a soul is a soul mate connection and quite often you have known them in a previous life and have unfinished business to attend to with each other now.
This said, I believe that there is that special someone out there for us, it might not be our soul mate but they will bring a completeness to our lives.
My theory on meeting someone special is that this person should not complicate my life, but compliment it.
That someone special is out there for each of us, but when we find them it doesn"t mean that all the hard work of a relationship goes away, we will still need to work on our relationship and ourselves and grow together as a couple and individually.
