The Body - fight for
Let's talk about instinct. An animal
trait. Most certainly... Is this a trait that
we as humans have? Most certainly...
Remember we have separated the body from the soul and are limiting our
discussions to the body at this time. This in mind... The body has a mind of it's own (so to speak) which has effectively been designed
to ensure promulgation of your species as well as the survival of your body.
How, you ask? Simple... By forcing you to experience emotions
through excretion of chemicals into your body, (Love, Fear, Anger to name but a
few). All of these emotions are manipulated by this "body
mind" and are then focussed on creating a response which your "body
mind" believes you need to have, in order to promote this very singularly
important aspect of living on this planet, in this physical universe..
To demonstrate this I would suggest we look at two of the more powerful
"Why do you have a fear of heights?..."
If you come near that cliff's edge you are likely to feel that fear.
"Some have overcome their fear and turned it into fun... You know
that RUSH (which is still just fear) that everybody seems to be on
about". Be that as it may. The fear reaction is a result of your
body's natural instinct (emotion) to preserve your body, and based
on the information received from your physical sense (sight, hearing, smell
etc.) your body believes that at that moment it's survival is under
threat, typically causing most people to back away.
This I suspect, remains subject of some controversy. I do however suspect
that when you really think about it, you are likely to find that this
still remains merely an animal instinct, which will drive your body to
procreate, and in so doing ensure the survival of the species. Yep... That
butterfly sensation.... Just a chemical reaction, which enhances and supports
the body's successful survival, through procreation. Again.. there are some exceptions,
but you have to be very careful not to confuse this emotion with anything
other what it is. A drive to survive.
Of course this is not intended to trivialize your emotions. I do
however believe that it is necessary for you to understand that your emotions
are merely chemically caused reactions to circumstances. These reactions are
judged by what your "body mind" (also known as your lower mind)
perceives necessary for your body to survive. In fact, you will probably find
that generally speaking your emotions are "instinctive" reactions to
environmental circumstances, which are designed to force you to react in a way
that your lower mind considers pro survival.
One of the most important conclusions that can be drawn from this, and as you
have probably already realized, is the fact that your body, and lower mind, is
a powerful force to be reckoned with in your journey of learning. A force, which if you let it, will run your life in ways that even
I could probably not fully imagine.
It is with this in mind that one has to continue to consider that
overcoming the "body mind" is difficult and will be met with
significant resistance. This continually makes it difficult for you to get to
that spiritually enlightened state that we so much desire. So the easiest way
would be then to not try to resist the body, but rather use it's
significant ability to enhance your pursuit of enlightenment. It is possible,
and will be met with far less resistance ….
