To think deeply about...
Meditation is a physical, mental and spiritually stimulating practice, utilized to help us improve ourselves and the world around us, or to prepare us mentally for some other practice.
This typically follows a fairly common pattern which starts with finding a comfortable position for the body, preferably in a quiet space, and then seeking to quieten the mind, after which a practitioner would focus the mind on a subject or topic. Some practitioners choose to stop at the quieten mind part, not directing the meditation in a direction, but focussing on having no thoughts whatsoever for the duration of the meditation.
The time it takes for most to get a high value session, is usually around 45 minutes to 1½ hours.
There are various forms of meditation, and a number of them are applied in preparation for some other practice. A very common meditative practice is guided meditation, which stimulates specific directionality of meditation.
Meditation is used as part of various practices (both spiritual and non spiritual) including for health, in Yoga, in the Martial Arts and most certainly in the magical arts, to name a but a few.
The most important thing to remember about meditation is that this is a practice that anyone and everyone can benefit from, irrespective of your philosophies or lifestyle.
