The “Writer Central” Navigation Bar

“Writer Central” is where you will find yourself after logging into your author account.  From here you are able to manage all your writing related activities, amongst other by using the Navigation Bar

 

The navigation bar is positioned at the top of the screen of the “Writer Central” page.  From this navigation bar you are able to, submit articles, update your profile, verify your email address, access the site terms of service (including the editorial guidelines), change log in information as well as activate a “Notify Me” account should you choose to..

The Editorial guidelines is included in the Terms of Service.  Just click on the “Terms of Service” button in the Navigation Bar, and then click on the link “Esoteric Library editorial guidelines

Ok, I’ve signed up as an author, now what?

 

Answer : Read and follow the instructions in the “Welcome message”.  This should give you at least some basic understanding of how this all fits together.

 

Still struggling a bit.  Here’s a detailed guide of what to do next, and what each thing means :

How to submit an article or definition

 

Step 1 : Update your author profile

 

Click on the “Update Author Profile”  button {see Navigation Bar}

 

When you click on this button you will find yourself at a page where you are required to enter some personal information.  This information is for our purposes only, and required for legal reasons.  This information will not be disclosed to any 3rd parties unless we are obliged to do so under law.

 

Complete this information and remember to click the update button at the bottom of the screen. 

 

 

This will make sure that your information is saved in the Esoteric Library author database.

 

Once you have updated your author profile, you can now return to “Writer Central”.  Click the button at the top left of the screen.  Of used perhaps is to note that when you are logged in, to return to “Writer Central”, this button will almost always be top left

 

You will only have to complete this once, unless your info changes.

Step 2 : Verify your email address

 

After completing Step1, you need to complete one more step before you are able to submit articles. 

 

To verify your author email address, click on the “Verify Email Address” button. {see Navigation Bar}

 

Taking this action will open a page where you are able to send an email to the email address specified in Author Profile.  This mail will contain a link (and a validation code) which you need to click on (or enter in the field provided) to verify you email address.  {remember to return to “Writer Central”, just click on the top left button}

 

The “Verify Email Address” button {see Navigation Bar} will remain on the bar at the top at “Writer Central” until you have verified your email address.  Also you will be unable to submit articles, or definitions until this step is completed.

 

Once you have completed the verification though, this button will disappear and you will be able to submit articles at your leisure.

 

You can also change your author email address at any time going to your Author Profile.  However noting that every time you change your address, you will have to verify the new address again.  {Please note that changing the email address here does not change your log in email address.  This is only your author address}

 

You will only have to complete this once, unless your info changes.

Submit an Article

 

You have completed the previous 2 steps, and you can now proceed to submit as many articles as you like.  To submit an article simply click on the “Submit New Article” button on the top navigation bar.

 

When you click here, a page will be opened where you are able to enter all the details and content of your new article, before submitting it for review and approval.

Complete fields for a complete Article submission

 

On this page there are a number of form fields provided where you can simply input the details of your article. It is important that you complete them correctly, otherwise we would not be able to approve your articles into the library. 

 

So one suggestion is to read the editorial guidelines which can be found within the “Terms of Service” Click the button on the navigation bar.  This should give you a clear understanding of what is permitted where. (Please note that these guidelines were created to ensure that the quality of the site as a reference resource is maintained.)

 

Starting with  - Select a category

Select from our list of categories a category that would best suite your article submission.  If for some reason we do not have a suitable category, please suggest one, using our standard contact form.

 

Title of your article

Enter the title that you have decided to use for your article.  This title will be displayed on the site for readers to find and readers will be able to click directly on the title to view your article

 

Short description

A short description (max 50 words) which will describe to potential readers the content of your article.  This information is usually displayed with search results, when readers do searches.  This is also transmitted to “Notify Me” members when they receive notice of your article (together with the title)

 

Article content

Here you can enter your article content.  For help with the formatting of your article content, we suggest you can simply click on the --

Upload an image

 

Best is to simply follow the on page instructions, to upload the image. Following upload completion simply copy the instructed html into your article content body, where you wish for the image to appear.

To start uploading simply click on the button provided :

 

Author Bio

This is the place where you are permitted to promote yourself and you website / company and products if you wish.  You are also permitted to place two active self serving links in the author bio.

 

Here is also provided a tool with which you are able to turn your website url into an active link.  Having your urls set as an active link already, speeds up the approvals process considerably, and is greatly appreciated by our reviewers.

 

To use this tool click on the link provided underneath the author bio box.

 

 

Author Name

Enter the name you wish to display (visible with the article) as being author of the article.  This name will be displayed underneath the article title as written by…

 

Once you have completed the fields on this page, simply click on the “Submit” button to send the article to Esoteric Library reviewers for review and approval.

 

If for some reason you find you are unable to complete the article, and you wish to save it for later completion and submission, just “Save as Draft”

 

The “Preview” button will allow you to preview your article so you can see what it will look like, before submitting it for review.

Submit a Definition

 

You have completed the first 2 steps, and you can now proceed to submit as many definitions as you like.  To submit a definition simply click on the “Submit New Definition” button on the top navigation bar.

 

When you click here, a page will be opened where you are able to enter all the details and content of your new definition, before submitting it for review and approval.

Choosing your definition word

After clicking on the “Submit New Definition” button your will be taken to a page where you can enter your Definition word.  Entering and checking the word here will ensure that the word is available in the dictionary.  Please enter the word and click the button provided.  A Definition word / phrase can contain up to 3 words maximum.

 

This will open a small window which confirms whether or not the word is available or not.  (PLEASE NOTE : Until the word is approved into the live system, it will be available)

 

If the word is available click on the “Continue to submit definition” button.  This will take you to a page where you are able to enter the information for your definition.  The word that was selected will be transferred to the page.

 

If you have made an error with your word, or wish to simply change the word.  To do this “Save as Draft” and then click on “Change Word”. This will follow a similar process to first selection, however will allow you to change the word, if the new version is available.

 

If the word is not available

If the word is not available to be listed as a new definition, then you have one of two options :

a)                 Abandon your submission. (simply “Return to Writer Central”)

b)                 Submit your information as a comment to the existing definition already in the live system.  This means that your information will be displayed on the definition viewer in the comments section underneath the definition. (simply click the link provided to proceed)

Enter the Plural Form

Please enter the plural form of the word / phrase that you have decided to create a definition for.  Eg. “Meditation” – plural form “Meditations”

 

Select your Category

Select from our list of categories a category that would best suite your article submission.  If for some reason we do not have a suitable category, please suggest one, using our standard contact form.

 

Note that in this instance it is NOT REQUIRED that you select a category.  “No Category” means selected to be shown in the “General Category”.

 

Enter your Definition content

Here you can enter your definition content.  For help with the formatting of your article content, we suggest you can simply click on the --

Please feel free to enter self promoting text here up to 140 characters (The limit has been set since we anticipate most definitions to be fairly short, and thus do not wish the bio to be longer than the definition itself.  NO LINKS or URLS permitted here.  An additional field is provided for this purpose.

 

Your website URL

This field is provided for you to enter one self promoting URL, which will be displayed with your definition on the definition viewer page.  Please be sure that your url starts with “http://...”

 

When this is completed you may simply “Save as Draft” or “Submit”

 

About submitting as a comment

When a word is not available, or you wish to submit a comment you are able to do so in the same fashion as when you are submitting a new definition, however noting that for comments you are not able to change the word, plural form  or category of the definition being referenced.  However you are permitted to add images and of course your standard author bio, subject to the usual limits.

 

Any definition submissions that are not approvable as new definitions, due to prior existence in the live system, will be considered for approval as a definition comment.

 

If my comment says “INACTIVE” in “Writer Central”

As you are aware, our authors retain the right to remove their content at any time.  If one of your comments is labeled as “INACTIVE” this means that the original definition owner has removed the definition from the Esoteric Dictionary.  This also means that you could like attempt to claim this definition for yourself, by submitting it as a new definition.

Check the status of your articles / definitions

 

Once you have completed your submission (or saved the article / definition as draft), simply  return to “Writer Central” where you will now be able to review the status of all saved and submitted articles / definition. 

 

When you log into your author account, your article list will be displayed.  To view your definitions (and definition comments) simply click on the “View Definitions List” button on the navigation bar.  (will only be active if you have definitions / definition comments.

 

To return to the article list simply click on the “View Article List” button in the same spot on the navigation bar.

 

To help you keep track of your submissions we have provided 4 status indicators :


     Articles

  1. Article saved in draft mode
    Lists articles that have not been submitted but that have been saved for later editing and submission. To submit this article simply click the “Edit article” link next to the article, make your final changes and edits, and then submit.

 

  1. Articles submitted for review
    This is a list of articles that is currently undergoing review by Esoteric Library reviewers, for the sake of adding to the live library

 

  1. Rejected articles
    This is a list of articles that have been reviewed by our reviewers, and have been rejected because of some problem or another that prevents approval for the live library.  In most instance the problem is usually a small issue related to non compliance with our editorial guidelines.  For details on this you can simply click on the “Review problems” link next to the article in the list.  To fix the problems simply “Edit” the article and resubmit.

 

  1. Live articles
    This is a list of all the articles that you have submitted, and that is visible in the library to anyone visiting the library.\

    This is a list of definitions that is currently undergoing review by Esoteric Library reviewers, for the sake of adding to the live dictionary.

    This is a list of definitions that have been reviewed by our reviewers, and have been rejected because of some problem or another that prevents approval for the live dictionary.  In most instance the problem is usually a small issue related to non compliance with our editorial guidelines.  For details on this you can simply click on the “Review problems” link next to the definition in the list.  To fix the problems simply “Edit” the definition and resubmit.

How to change your Log In email address and password

 

To change your log in email or password simply click on the “Change Loginfo” button.  {see Navigation Bar} This will open a page where you can change both. 

 

On this page simply type into the fields provided your new information, and remember click the “Update” button to save the new information.

I am an author and I want a Notify Me account, how?

 

There are two ways in which you are able to activate a “Notify Me” account.

1.      Log in using your usual email address and password from the Notify Me login page.  This will log you straight into your “Notify Me” account which will now also be active.  You would also now be able to navigate between “Writer Central” and “Notify Me Central” from the navigation bar.  There are buttons on both the Central account navigation bars for navigation between the two accounts

 

2.      If you are logged in as an author at “Writer Central”.  Simply click on the “Create Notify Me Account” button. {see Navigation BarThis will take you to a confirmation page.  If you want to activate your notify me account, confirm, and this will log you into your “Notify Me Central”.  Return to “Writer Central” is possible with a button on the Notify Me navigation bar.  Once both accounts have been activated there are buttons on both the Central account navigation bars for navigation between the two accounts.

I have both a Notify Me and an Author account

To log into your Author account log in from the Esoteric Library Home page, or the Writers Login page

To log into your Notify Me account log in from the Notify Me login page

 

Keep in mind that when you are logged into either of your accounts navigation between the two accounts are possible from your navigation bar.
