When you walk into someone’s home or business, you form instant impressions. You decide if the décor is to your taste and you may notice if the room has a distinct odor, but do you notice how a room ‘feels’? If there has just been an argument in a room, you will feel tension in the air. If there has been a joyful celebration or surprise, there will be excitement filling the room. What you are feeling is energy that is all around you. Often in rooms, you feel drained or stuck in the mud. One reason this happens is that the energy is moving too quickly or slowly throughout the space.

Feng Shui can help you adjust and enhance the way a space feels. Feng Shui “the gentle Chinese art of placement” uses a variety of tools to enhance every area of life and adjust the movement of energy. These tools may use sound when a gentle wind blows through a wind chime, or movement from a waving flag. Colors are helpful to adjust or enhance energy too. Use green if you want to improve family relations, yellow for better health or purple for more money. Other tools use the elements, such as water in fountains, earth from terracotta pots, wood from plants and fire from candles. The elements need to be balanced for harmony in a space. If your energy is drained in your home or business, there may be too much “water” present. Try putting your favorite candles around the house so the fire can help counteract the draining feeling of too much water. Candles can speak a very special language and they are the perfect item for adjusting energy and getting things moving. Don’t you feel a difference in a room when you light a candle?

The use of fire as an element to adjust energy is an ancient practice. Fire is the symbol of energy and passion and human life changed forever with the discovery of fire. If you need to make life changes, ask some relevant questions. Are you ready to set the world on fire with a new career? Do you need to fan the flames to get your new business venture noticed by the public? Do you want to reignite passion with your loved one? Do you want to keep the phone lines burning with new customers? Feng Shui can help with all of these things by using the special quality of candles.

The most basic candle consists of some form of wax, and a wick for the flame. Now, add some fun with a unique shape, a fantastic scent, just the right color, and you are on your way to ambiance and just the right spark from a Feng Shui perspective. Let’s take the example of igniting the sparks of passion. In Feng Shui, the color of the area of partnership is pink and the area is in the far right corner of a room, desk or home. Obviously, in partnerships, there are two people and the scent could be floral of rose or lavender. The Bright Bouquets are uniquely layered candles and the “Tuberose” is ideal for a romantic liaison because it is in shades of pink and lavender and has the lovely fragrance of love with the tuberose and orchid. The “Love” candle with plumeria, ylang ylang and cinnamon is a sexy, spicy choice of fragrance for an intriguing aphrodisiac experience. All of these scents signify love and romance which is the goal here. If you have a large whirlpool bath, place pink “Passion” votives next to the tub for a romantic setting or add floating candles in the bath as an invitation to a special evening. Keep the candles in pairs or in sets of three, six or nine because nine is an important number in Feng Shui.

If the goal is to get your new business off to a red hot start, red is the obvious color of choice. Red is the color of the fame and reputation area in Feng Shui, and it is the element of fire. This makes lighting candles the perfect choice for the new business or career. You could find any old red candle at the local discount store, but why do that? Intention is everything in Feng Shui, so really do it up right when it comes to the choice of candle or fire element. The Himalayan Salt Crystal Lights are ideal when it comes to adding spark to the career area of an office or desk. They are unusual and lighting is the element of fire so pick the size you want for your desk and turn it on everyday. You are making a loud statement to the universe when you use one of the lamps. You are investing in your future and salt adds a purifying intention into the mix.

If you would like more helpful people in your life, or you want to hear the phones ringing more often with new business, try placing a small jar candle in the lower right corner of a desk or room. A gold plated cherub candleholder with a blue/gray votive calls more people into your life. The cherub or angel is a perfect choice because the helpful people area pertains to guides and guardians as well. These are just a few ideas when it comes to putting sparks in your life.

In Feng Shui, intention is key. Visualize the goal, place the candle in the designated area and see the goal coming to life. The candle is made of the same energy stuff as we are and it is more than willing to help you achieve your goals. Does that sound strange? It shouldn’t. Everything is made of energy and it cannot be destroyed, only changed. Let Feng Shui work for you to enhance and adjust every area of your life. Use candles to adjust energy and light the way to your goals.
