Whilst meditation remains
an extraordinary tool with substantial life value on it's own, it would appear
that for centuries meditation has been practiced by Wicca practitioners as a
magical tool, and usually with a specific purpose in mind.
Focussing on the specific
aspects of magic it may well be of interest to address a few magical forms
directly, and specifically the application of meditation in these forms of
the use of meditation is by no means a prerequisite for a successful ritual,
this tends to add a number of very interesting and positive side affects
preparation meditation is used to establish a clean practitioner mind
slate from where the ritual can be performed, which aids in elimination
of outside thoughts interfering with the ritual, and in so enhances the
success of the ritual.
is also useful in establishing focus on the intent of the ritual. This
offers a unique opportunity for the practitioner to establish a directed
focus, before even starting the ritual.
course a shortcoming with most group rituals remain a split up focus, as
every practitioner usually ends up focusing on his / her own ideas of
what the results of the ritual should be. Of course utilization of group
guided meditation as a ritual preparation tool could increase the agreed
focus of the group, and in so doing cause some spectacular results, as
the intent of the ritual is more successfully defined and projected by
all participants in the ritual.
course similar principles would apply as with ritual magic, and all of
the above mentioned points are points which could be applied for spell
is however at least one added dimension in which meditation could be
used, and that is for the actual casting of the spell in the meditation,
using visualization. Essentially the practitioner can cast the spell
whilst in meditation visualizing the desired results. (be careful though
this is only recommended for advanced practitioners of both meditation
of group spells it is very important that the whole group has the same
objective and intent when casting of the spell takes place, so it is
usually better to use guided meditations in group castings.
the meditation does not in this instance form and intrinsic part of the
magic practice, this is more often than not used as a launch platform
from where the astral plain is entered into. Essentially used as a basis
to force the practitioner into the astral plain, from where powerful
magic is possible.
course from a preparation perspective meditation could be used to create
an astral setup, which creates in the astral plain conditions conducive
to successful outcome.
interest in this instance would also be the use of meditation to
communicate with beings in the astral plain, which often include spirit
guides and angles.
meditation is not essential to successfully channelling spirit entities,
this is used very successfully in constructing séances which are focused
on specific entities, or in search of specific knowledge.
is one form of magic practice where meditation does in fact form an intrinsic
part of the practice. Meditation has for the longest of time been used in
the search for knowledge and inner enlightenment. In this form meditation
is used extensively in this spiritual quest.
Reiki is also a form of magic, and in Reiki meditation is used
extensively for focussing of energy, both in solitary and group context.
Keeping in mind that Reiki is a rather direct form of energy
manipulation, meditation is a powerful ally in energizing intent.
Whilst this does not even
resemble a complete list of forms of magical practice where meditation offers
benefit, and is used extensively, this does demonstrate the versatile potential
of meditation. This of course not counting the non magical practice of meditation,
which is simply focussed on simple life enhancement and self improvement.
In fact there are so many
beneficial uses for meditation that it would be impossible to list them all. Of
course in magic meditation plays a rather important role, and any practitioner
of magic would do well learning at least some form of meditation, if not
already in use…..
